Central Government of India, as well as Sate Government of Andhra Pradesh, have several welfare schemes and subsidies and programmes under implementation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Physically Handicaped, Minorities and Women.
As part of this, Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Youth Welfare and Cultural Association (APSCYWCA) was established in 1985, and has been working in the fields of Education, Vocational Training, Social Service, Culture, by dissimating information available on schemes, and programes for free, and by ensuring that proper understanding is achived in the masses.
Since its establishment, the activities undertaken have been acclaimed and appreciated from various quarters of the society. Especially in achieving to bring the various schemes available for the upliftment to the targeted people, as they most of the times are not aware of the schemes available.
For example, under the Priminister Rozgaar Yojna, we helped unemployed youth with the process of acquiring loans for self employment. Unemployed youth have been provided with coaching classes to enable them to write competitive exams, and to attend interviews. This was to enable youth with intelligence who did not have any encouragement to set and achieve their career goals.
Our Association has also been working in identifying and encouraging people who are good at artistic skills, but have left them over a period of time for lack of appreciation and encouragement, monetary and other. The Association regularly conducts cultural programs where they can exhibit their talent, and keep in touch with their Arts, and also works on encouraging them, and showing them the facilities to continue their education. Most of these people leave their education in the middle and this encouragement and support is needed for them to become self sustained. They are given an opportunity to participate in cultural programmes on TV and Radio.
Medical facilities are dearer to the downtrodden, and our assiciation has been working in providing free medical checkups, medicines and treatment right at their door steps.
We recognise people working for the upliftment of the socially backward classes, and every year on the occassion of the Birth Anniversary of the Father of Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, awards are given to them as a recognition under the title " Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Memorial Awards". "Babu Jagjeevan Ram Memorial Awards" are also given by our association.
Many other programmes and schemes are being planned in the near future, these to name a few include, providing free lodging facilities for the youth coming to the Hyderabad City , to attend their job interviews, arranging a Marriage Bureau, and assisisting in inter caste marriages, and much more.
